Media Program
The ALC Media program is a pathway to story-telling and creativity through digital media. Its aim is to empower, preserve culture and develop Warnamamalya access and skill sets across moving and still imagery. It’s an open program accessible to traditional owners who shape both it’s content and direction.
Media training, equipment and facilities provided Warnumamlya with the capacity to record stories, songs, ceremonies and events. The media created can be used for cultural learning, archiving, entertainment, communication, promotion and empowerment. Productions are released through national broadcasts, online platforms, in print and at film and arts festivals.
The media program works across the whole archipelago with dedicated media spaces in Umbakumba, Angurugu and Milyakburra. These creative spaces provide traditional owners with access to computers with media software and training. The spaces are also access points for a digital archival project with around 60 years and countless hours worth of media being collated and accessible for viewing, learning and extracting.

Around 4 tonnes of foreign marine debris and plastics were removed from 8 mile beach by volunteers. A ginormous feat.
