Network of self-governing communities likely to spring from historic Groote agreement
The Australian | The Northern Territory government’s treaty-making with Aboriginal groups is destined to see a network of semi-autonomous subregions established covering at least 100,000 square kilometres, the Chief Minister has confirmed. Micheal Gunner travelled to Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria earlier this week to ink the most significant so far of 11 local decision-making agreements in place or under negotiations.
