All roads lead to Darwin for Anindilyakwa Arts in August.

Artists and staff are attending the National Indigenous Fashion Awards and Country to Couture.

The arts centre, which is part of the Anindilyakwa Land Council’s extensive cultural program on Groote Eylandt, has nominees in two fashion awards categories:

  • Community Collaboration, which recognises effective and productive relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the textile and fashion industry – Anindilyakwa Arts
  • Environmental and Social Contribution, which recognises excellence and leadership in environmental and social development understanding in relation to textiles and fashion – Annabell Amagula

The awards, which are being held on August 3, provide a vibrant platform to celebrate the innovation, diversity and ethical practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and fashion designers. Anindilyakwa Arts has also been accepted to have its 2021 fashion collection shown in the Country to Couture show at the Darwin Convention Centre on August 4.
